Shotty reads every screenshot on your iPhone or iPad, pulls out the text, and builds a private index you can search in an instant. Type a name, a number, a place, or a single word, and the right screenshot shows up right away. Everything happens on the device. No server, no cloud, no account, no API.

Overview
Shotty is built privacy-first. Everything the app does, reading screenshots, recognizing text, suggesting tags, storing the index, happens locally on your device.
Data we collect
None. Shotty does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no server, no cloud, no account, no API, and no analytics. Your screenshots and the index built from them never leave your device.
How your data is processed
- All OCR runs on device with Apple Vision.
- All language tagging runs on device with NaturalLanguage.
- All storage is local SwiftData.
- No analytics, no tracking, no account.
- Shotty only reads the screenshots you let it see.
Permissions
- Photos (Full or Limited access), required to read screenshots and to support deleting them. No photos leave the device.
- No camera, microphone, location, contacts, or other permissions are requested.
Third-party services
- Apple Vision and NaturalLanguage, system frameworks that run entirely on your device to perform OCR and language tagging. No data is sent to Apple or any third party.
- SwiftData, used for local on-device storage only. No iCloud sync, no CloudKit.
- Photos (PhotosUI / PhotoKit), Apple system framework used to read and delete screenshots you choose. No photos are uploaded.
Children's privacy
Shotty does not collect any data from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no sign-up flows, and no age-gated features.
Data retention and deletion
The index Shotty builds lives only on your device, inside the app's local SwiftData store. Deleting a screenshot from inside Shotty or from Photos removes it from the index. Uninstalling Shotty deletes the entire index immediately. There is no server-side copy to delete because nothing was ever uploaded.
Changes to this policy
If Shotty ever starts doing something new with your data, this page will be updated before that change ships, and the "last updated" date above will reflect it.
